Kansas driving records use codes rather than written
explanations to indicate a driver’s history.  The following are
some of the codes that are used in cases where a licensee
has a DUI case:

•        CON = conviction
•        SUS = suspended
•        RES = restricted driving privileges
•        DI1 = DUI conviction
•        DI3 = breath test refusal
•        DI5 = chemical test failure for alcohol
•        DI8 = entered diversion agreement after DUI arrests

So for example, someone who suffers a DUI conviction on
5/16/07 will have entries on their driver’s record that look
something like:

CON  051607  010107  RES  KS  DG  MUN  N  N  DI1  061607
330  051508
CON  051607  010107  SUS  KS  DG  MUN  N  N  DI1  051607
30    061507

Which tells those who access the record and know how to
interpret it that:

1.        The licensee was arrested for DUI on 01/01/07
2.        Neither a commercial vehicle was involved nor was
hazardous materials involved.
3.        The licensee was convicted of DUI on 5/16/07 in a
municipal court in Douglas County,
Kansas.
4.        The licensee’s license was suspended for 30 days as a
result of the conviction.
5.        The licensee’s our license was restricted for 330 days
as a result of the conviction.

Alternatively, someone who goes on diversion for a DUI but
loses their administrative hearing on 5/16/07 will have an
entry on their driver’s record that looks something like:

ADM  051607  010107  RES  KS  DG  MUN  N  N  DI5  061607
330  051508
ADM  051607  010107  SUS  KS  DG  MUN  N  N  DI5  051607
30    061507
ADM  051607  010107  DI8  KS  DG  MUN  N  N

Which tells those who access the record and know how to
interpret it that:

1.        The licensee was arrested for DUI on 01/01/07
2.        Neither a commercial vehicle was involved nor was
hazardous materials involved.
3.        The licensee was granted diversion for a DUI on
5/16/07 in a municipal court in Douglas

4.        The licensee’s was suspended for 30 days as a result
